Why is Authentication (IA.L1-b.1.vi) important for CMMC Level 1?

Authentication confirms that a user, process, or device is who or what it claims to be. Without proper authentication, unauthorized entities could gain access to systems and FCI by simply using a known identifier. It's a critical step after identification.
