Why is Public-Access System Separation (SC.L1-b.1.xi) important for CMMC Level 1?

Publicly accessible systems are more exposed to attack. Separating them from your internal network containing FCI prevents an attacker who compromises a public server from easily accessing your sensitive internal data.
